Structure-Dielectric Property Relationship in Polypropylene/Multi-Element Oxide Nanocomposites

This paper reports on an investigation into the effects of different multi-element oxide nanofillers structure and dielectric properties polypropylene (PP)-based nanocomposites. Magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4), calcium carbonate (CaCO3) surface-modified (CaCO3T) have been added to PP determine their thermal properties, structural changes, response breakdown strength. The results show that nanocomposites containing MgAl2O4 possess lowered strength compared unfilled PP. In contrast, adding CaCO3 in a higher MgAl2O4. Meanwhile, CaCO3T highest among systems considered. Possible mechanisms governing these property changes under alternating current direct electric fields are discussed.
